[CES 2012 Exclusive Update]: Dakota Alert /archive/j/news/2012/1/CES/logo.jpg
CocoonTech visited the Dakota Alert booth during CES 2012 to get the latest news about their products.
One product that caught my eye was their wireless break beam sensor. This unit has two parts that can be mounted up to 300 feet apart and uses IR beam technology (two beams) that will transmit a signal back to their main sensor if both of the IR beams are broken for a tenth of a second (this permits certain noise immunity say from leaves falling or flying birds). Also, they are battery operated AND have an included solar cell for charging during the day. This makes them totally wireless! Up to four pairs of these sensors can be monitored by their main unit, which can be located up to a half a mile away from the sensors. The main unit also has contact closures that can be easily interfaced with a home automaton or security system. These units will retail for $350 per pair and will include the main monitoring sensor as well.
