[Articles] Google purchases SageTV

We too have been using the same stock GUI since 2003. The upside of stepping away from HA/HT for 18-24 months is that my wife realized I wasn't going to change for the sake of change. She's home sick today, noticed the new GUI (I installed Phoenix). I told her to get over it, Sage was going EOL, and that I wanted to upgrade to the latest version while I still could.

so far she hasn't slapped me, but she is still sick so might once she's better. I used a pic of our kids as the new background image in a blatant attempt to tug at heartstrings :-)

google tv is now $99 http://goo.gl/EdD95 now if they would only throw make it work as a sagetv extender

I saw this yesterday, and thought it would be of interest to some folks here:

tl;dr: "

in a Google+ comment
[background=rgb(237, 237, 237)] that [Google] Fiber TV is powered by his former company’s technology."[/background]

too bad I don't live in KC..

Yeah me too, and I am so close. And being a network guy and knowing a little about the fiber routes between KC and STL, I am guessing it'll be a while...

Interesting... but I can't see Google releasing a product that isn't available to the MASSES and assume that they will have something available for those not in 'fiberhoods.' Heck, I just got access to a second cable provider about 6 months ago, before that it was Comcast or a dish service.
