This week's video is a showcase of Project Jarvis's speech recognition. While speech recognition isn't something new, I thought this video was interesting because it showcases a pretty cool wireless microphone, which might make speech recognition a lot more successful. The microphone used in this video is the Revolabs xTag wireless USB mic. It doesn't require any drivers, and recharges via USB. Revolabs has some other interesting wireless microphone products as well, so take a look at their site if you are interested in speech recognition. Pricing for the xTag seems to start around $180.

Geeze that is slow response. I think I'd rather watch paint dry. I realize that is just where we are with voice recognition today. But until it gets much faster and accurate, it just isn't going to fly IMHO.

Serg in the new series Caprica responds to voice commands quickly. That's what we have to get to before it becomes widely accepted.

I run a tiny little software called BVC that controls my X10 (CM15A) setup. Here is (just one of) my youtube video of it in action. The reaction time is fast... and accurate too. I run BVC on and old P3 PC running XP and it works great.
