This week's video is pretty interesting, but probably doesn't have any real applications.  Sysnet (a company in the UK) and the Sterling University worked together on a method which allows control of your home automation gear using 'pen and paper'.  While these digital pens/paper aren't new technology, using it for control of lights is a pretty unique idea.
