The ZigBee Alliance has made the ZigBee Home Automation and ZigBee Remote Control protocol now available for download.  Hopefully this means we'll see more compatible home automation gear on the market soon, plus it should enable the DIY crowd to build their own hardware.  Full press release can be found below.
