I ordered a DVI to Component cable because I am going to need to be able to view my server (located in the mechanical room) in the living room (upstairs) This is something I didn’t consider when I did my pre-wire, so the only cable at the TV is 3 RG6, 3 RG59 and 2 Cat 5. Component + audio takes up 5 of the 6 coax, and network to the TV takes 1 cat 5. The simplest solution I saw was to convert the monitor output to component and use my Yamaha receiver to switch between sources.

Well, the cable got here today, and It doesn’t work. If I try to reboot my computer with the adapter plugged in, the computer hangs. The card I have in there right now also has a VGA output, so I may have to try to build a VGA to component cable and use that.

Also, my speakers arrived today. I guess I have my project for this weekend.
