Cable pull spreadsheet - New home install

I built a new sheet that might be helpful to any one that is building a new system. I just wanted to get all of my pull info in one easy to use document.

I have to get a couple more posts under my belt before I can post it so I will give you a run down. A lot of the pulls are for future but I want to make sure I cover all of the basics.

I will be using an Elk M-1 gold with the M1DBH and 4 keypads. The system will have 10 door switches, no window sensors at this point (may use wireless if I see the need in the future), 3 smokes, 3 CO detectors, 2 glass break sensors, 3 temp sensors, water detectors, 2 expansion boards, 5 motions and an outdoor siren. I will fit it all into Elk's 28" enclosure.

All of the data / telephone / satellite will come into 2 - 42" leviton SMC's. I want to give my self a lot of extra space to work with / expand.

For my whole home audio I will be going with a Nuvo GC using the 2 of the NV-P2100 expanders for a total of 8 zones of audio. I want to install an intercom system that will work well as a door bell and in-home intercom and the only one I can find that I like is the russound compoint. I know it will look funny with the compoint keypad mounted beside a nuvo keypad but is there any other reason that the two cannot work together?

Right now I have no plans for the lighting control but I will be wiring all of the switches with neutrals so I can keep my options open. Same for automation control/software, no plans yet but I want to keep my options open.

The house is a 2200 sq/ft bungalow with a walk out basement. We are expecting our first baby in the next couple of weeks so I would like to install a baby monitor solution that will be easy for the wife to use, right now I like the looks of Channel Visions P-6014 sequencer with Channel Visions 6210 Cat5 Decora type cameras with built in mic's.

Once I get a couple more posts up I will post the link for the spreadsheet.

Go with a 42" enclosure for the ELK. If you get an expansion card and/or a serial card and you will not fit it in a 28". I my my elk installs in a Leviton box. I needed to drill maybe one or two holes for the standoffs but just about everything fits in the existing holes. The leviton boxes are nice as the make a add on box that mounts in the bottom that allows for an outlet. I can attach a picture later of one of my installs. I have a 42" but still have my wireless adapter outside of that box.

You can either buy the elk with no box and get a box later or get it with their 42" box.

I use the russsound commport and they work well together, the commport cuts power to the speakers when the intercom triggers so as long as you run two cat5s to the keypad locations and run the speaker wires via the keypad boxes you will be all set.

You'd want to wire all your smoke detectors (rows 60, 80, 82) with 18/4 firewire instead of 22/4.
You also need at least one smoke detector outside the bedroom area, and preferably in each bedroom.

Here's a useful guide regarding proper placement of smoke detectors:

I somewhat disagree with how I've seen the hardware installed in other enclosures. The Elk hardware fits nicely in their enclosures, expanders and serial cards included, you just need to use the SWG's, but 8 boards can fit across easily on top of the M1 and batteries. Honestly, given the size of the install, I think a 28" enclosure for security itself is more than adequate, including using the bottom knockout for a duplex outlet.

I personally recommend putting the security in it's own enclosure and combining the rest of the hardware in it's own, if you want to bundle it.
