Caddx NX8

This is what I found:

"As far as I know the Data Tap (J10) is basically an unused connector. If I remember correctly, it was used for early 588's and training keypads (we've never tried a keypad on it)."

Okay thanks. I was hoping it was build in RS232 so I didn't need to buy anything new

I found this information on the HomeSeer message board. This is for the free jvCaddx plugin.

"jvCaddx Plug-in connects HomeSeer to the CADDX/Network family of alarm systems. You can use the NX-8e 'as is' but for NX-8, NX-6, NX-4 you will need a NX-584 expander. "

So it depends on your systems model number whether you need the expander to communicate with the panel or not.

Isn't this where the NX-584 expander connects to? I wasn't sure but hoped someone would confirm or deny.

The problem is the NX-584 is an older unit, most people that used Caddx have the NX8e and it is getting long in the tooth as well.

You could try posting over the HomeSeer board's Caddx forums as there are still some "old timer" Caddx users there I believe (board.homeseer.com).

EDIT: When in doubt, Google. I just googled for an NX584 image and found THIS.

Looks like it comes with a standard DB-9 serial connection, so any regular old serial cable should work. Of course, I'm guessing based on this picture... :P
