Can anyone recommend a hidden camera?

I have a friend who is worried that his landlord is snooping around his apartment.
He is looking to get some sort of hidden video recording system. He does not currently have an internet connection, so the web based ones are out. There seem to be a whole bunch of self contained DVR cameras hidden in all sorts of objects and a lot of places selling these things.
Does anyone have any advice or experience in this department?

Supercircuits stuff is inexpensive, but for a reason - it is not really built to last. But for what is likely a one-time application like this, their stuff may be just the thing.

Thanks for the advice. I used to get their catalog all the time but it seems like they stopped mailing it.
He's not looking for anything indestructible or feature laden, but it has to last for a couple weeks at a time during long business trips.
I'll do some digging at supercircuits.
