hi everyone. i have installed several x10 xpfm modules to control my ceiling fans. this is my problem, about half the time when they are turned off, the fan makes the xpfm turn back on.
is there a to stop this from happening. thanks

How did you wire it up?
Does the fan have a light set?
Did you use 1 or 2 xpfms?
Did you have 1 line voltage coming into the fan?
Was this on a 3 way switch?
Did you remove the pull chains and whatnot?
Is the old wall switch still there or did you block it off?

Basically the xpfm will sence changes in line voltage so you have another switch in the circuit by cyclcing it you are telling the xmfp to turn on.

EDIT:
Also check your logs and make sure something isn't misconfigured or that you haven't duplicated a house/unit code.

Might look this over too.

thanks for responding. the module was wired according to instruction. there are separate lines for the light and fan coming off of new separete light switches. the xpfm module was install above the fan in the ceiling. the pull chain switches were left in place. the common is the only thing in common

Well I would first check your house/unit code against the defaults of other manufacturers, and your logs to see if this is cause by the powerline or the pullchains/wall switch.

Then if all that pans out I would remove the pull chains and blockoff the wall switch. See if it still happens, I'm thinking it will not. I have several of these installed and have had no issues but they are cheapo X10 so you could even have a defective module or who knows what else.

What are you using for x10 control?

What house/unit code combination?

Are all of them the same?
Is only 1 having this issue?

You have any software to monitor the M1, otherwise you would need to use hyperterminal.

The XPFM will also respond to an All Lights On command on it's house code.
Could also be possible when the fan motor is turned off. There is enough of an Inductive Spike to confuse it and it goes back on.
I think I may have also seen a similar problem in the X10 Support Forums with fans and the XPFM

three are 3 fans each with their own code. c1,c2,c3. at times all three will have the problem but it is no consistant
