Centralite Jetstream... still around?

A while back there was a lot of discussion around new Jetstream switches coming out from Centralite. I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything from them.

their website is pretty old, latest news is from 2008.

i'm getting a little worried about spending a few dollars on a bunch of switches if these guys are not going to be around much longer.

anyone have any information on their viability?

thx,
chris

Are you talking about the potential new 'standard' line? They said they won't release them until there are controllers, etc and I don't think there has been much movement there. I agree that Jetstream is very frustrating in the support and enhancement of it. I have been waiting over a year for them to fix the paddle issue and just keep getting told they got a batch that wasn't good and sent it back and waiting for next batch. I pretty much gave up. Maybe one day I'll be surprised and will get an email about it or better yet a new paddle to try will show up in my mailbox, but I'm not holding my breath. There also hasn't been any new products like inline modules or anything, no software updates or anything. Hey, maybe its just perfect the way it is??? It actually is nice and works well but I would share your concerns about longevity and support. I almost expect to see any day the announcement that Centralite went bye bye. Hope we're wrong.

yep, those are my concerns. i've read here about new paddles and the site looks like its been untouched for 2yr. It doesn't inspire confidence.

the product works great, that is what is a bummer.

maybe i'll try calling them to see if anyone is actually there.

:)

It's too bad Centralite isn't pushing Jetstream harder. I like the look and feel of the product (except the button force issue) and love the software. If they put some resources behind Jetstream, they would really have a winner. Compared to their hardwired systems, it seems to me like Jetstream is more of a hobby for them.

Yup, those are my frustrations as well. If I saw some real backing behind it I would probably be using more of it and recommending it more. I think it can be a very worth and much less expensive option to Radio Ra2. Sure they say its proprietary Zigbee but so it Ra2. If they actually expanded the product line and kept it new and modern I think it would do much better. Maybe its a money/resource thing, but it is concerning.

FWIW Anthony in their support dept has always been fast in replying to things and he is still there.

So here is a Jetstream tip... I needed to readdress my switch so I could move them to a different block in the Omni and could not find any documentation on changing the address that is assigned during install. Anthony quickly informed me their is an Admin mode toggled on/off by Ctrl+A. In admin mode you can change the address. So there was definitely thought that went into this product, hopefully it will come out of its shell.

If anyone is still following this, I just talked to Anthony at Centralite tech support, and he tells me they have finalized the bezel redesign as of about a month ago. I am working up a list of my current switches so he can send me replacements.

where/when do you do Ctrl+A? I am trying to figure out if I can change the Device ID so that I can group by rooms in my OPII... I'm hoping this will help.

thx,

I got the new bezels, which include all new buttons as well. We really like the new feel. High WAF. Two of the switches were damaged by the original bezels which had had about a 50% failure rate after about two years (some were hardly used). Centralite is making warranty replacements, which is nice, although they have a screwy RMA system. I need to buy two new switches from my distributor, then return these to them.

The system works well. The switches have a great new feel. I would feel better if they had more market presence.
