So what is the consensus concerning the cheap RFID solutions out? Do they work and are reliable? Would they work for a car detector?

Lets hear from anyone that are using them.

i'm using the cheaper rfid stuff from http://www.cheapertronics.com although i guess he doesn't sell them anymore. he was getting them from this ebay seller http://stores.ebay.com/Ananiah-Electronics

i have an 8m transmitter in each of our 3 cars and the receiver. battery life is bad so i added an external battery pack with 2 AAA batteries. it's been almost a year since i did that and i haven't had to change the batteries yet. the original cr2032 batteries were dying every couple months or so.

there is a whole forum about the devices on the HS board http://board.homeseer.com/forumdisplay.php?f=869
