Choosing Security System

I've been doing quite a bit of research and I'm still a little lost. I'm hoping someone here could lead me in the right direction. Here's my problem.

I'm planning to install a security system in my home. However I do not have a land line, or any voice line. I'm happy with my cell. So I searched and found alarm.com which offers wireless security monitoring. I've seen nextalarm as well, but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with my broadband (or any wire based service) being used for monitoring. It's just too easy for a intruder to cut the wires. Anyway, from what I can tell, alarm.com only works with GE control panels so I was planning on installing the NX-8E myself.

Then after some more research I started to become interested in home automation. However I have not found any, or at least any reference to systems which are compatible with Networx alarms. So I guess my question is, is GE Networx compatible with any home automation systems? If so which ones? Or are there any other security systems which are compatible with home automation systems that offer wireless monitoring?

Thanks

The GE Networx stuff is compatible with HomeVision. I use it and it seems to be working great. I use the alarm panel to trigger events on my HVPro (e.g. door open/close events) to turn on/off lights. The panel and the HVPro work very well together. There is a limitation that only 64 zones are visible to the HVPro -- of the 192 that the are supported by the NX8e. This isn't a problem for me but I do have 52 zones and my house isn't that big. Most people here will push you towards an Elk system but I love what the HVPro system can do right out of the box. Rock solid.

I agree with everything Chuck said. Integration with HVPro is very solid, no issues. HVPro gives you a lot of power - I've never found anything I can't do with it. good combination.

For what it's worth, you can use an Uplink Digicell Anynet cellular monitoring device with most any alarm panel and with NextAlarm as your monitoring company. You get varying degrees of functionality depending on the panel and how you connect the device, but on an ELK M1 panel you get full event reporting for any events you configure.
