ClearWave Water Conditioner

Had this device for over 12 years (I think) and had interesting things to say about it because we had major scaling problems.

1) Before I installed it there was always white streaks everywhere, that diminished but only by about 50%. Shower heads don't get as plugged, nor do the faucet heads. There are no streaks on glasses when dishwashing.
2) The water heater (oil fired Ford) before installation was quiet when firing, then after installation of the ClearWave started to crackle like boiling water in the pipe, this went on for a good 8 months then eventually disappeared. The crackling I believe was the old sediment dislodging and dissolving.
3) Well after 20 years the tech said your water heater might have a pin hole leak, which was never confirmed because it would smoke. I believe it was the burner and not the tank. Everyone from the tech to the installer were extremely surprised that the water heater went 20 years, as that brand and model had a reputation to go about 12 years, 14 tops. These usually go because of the scaling on the bottom that insulates and causes the burner to really cook to make the water hot.

So did the ClearWave acutally prevent the scaling? To some degree I believe so. Did it do it as good as a salt softner, No. But it was a lot cheaper without all the badness of a salt system.

these units are supposed to be effective with low-hardness water... but with water like AZ has, very very hard, they are not effective.
