Should CO sensors and Smoke detectors be put in separate partitions?

The point is notification of the occupants and adding complexity to doing such isn't benefitial.

Are we talking about areas/partitions or zones? I would put them on separate zones so the fire and co alarms are distinguished. This is especially important if the system is monitored.
