Premise Compatibility settings for Builder under Windows 8: what works best?!?

I installed Premise Builder under Windows 8.1, but kept my Premise server running on a Windows 7 machine.

But, when I hide a device level object under Custom Devices, Premise Builder on the W8 machine goes into a loop right after connecting to my Windows 7 machine?!?

I've never had this happen before...

What's strange about it?  Things work fine with the hidden custom device object if I open Builder on my W7 server!?!  This is 100% repeatable on my setup too.

I did have all the EXE's found under the Premise windows 8.1 install directory set to run using Admin privileges, and for compatibility with XP SP2.

What is strange is if I set SYS.exe compatible options all to false (run as admin unchecked and compatibility unchecked) on the W8 machine, things work fine again!

Any ideas?  I'm going to leave the compatibility options unchecked for now for SYS.exe, although I think prkernel.exe needs them checked if I was going to use Windows 8 as my server?  What's everyone doing wrt compatibility settings under Windows 7 and 8?
