Corner Loction for Motion Detectors and Glass Breaks ?

I am still prewiring for another few days .My house has a several positive interior angles that to my untrained eye look like good places to mount MD or GB devices. That way I could cover 2 areas from one strategic location.
I have seen MDs in negative corners of rooms but not on corners that project outward . Are there mounts available for this type situation? Also since I am drilling into the 2X4 studs at the corners it looks like I will need to put nail guards on either side of the holes. Will this keep me from mounting the sensors ?
I can always move the sensors away from the corners and put them on a flat portion of the wall away from the corners.

What do you think ?
Thanks !

Done it, get units with swivel mounts and it will look cleaner. Honeywell DT7235 has angled sides to allow for this to some extent but it's not totally clean, the swivel should hide everything.

I have a PIR motion detector on an inside corner, and it behaves OK. Different story for the glass-break detector, though. The installation sheet it came with had several restrictions. I think it had to be mounted several feet from a corner. Also within a cone 15* from perpendicular to the protected windows. If I can find the sheet, I'll post again with specifics.

Meanwhile, Google "glass break detector instructions." I imagine it could be different by manufacturer.

Finally found the installation instruction sheet for my GE Interlogix 5812-RND Acoustic Glassbreak Detectors.
As usual, my memory failed miserably. Here are some of the rules: Mount 12" away from any wall corners. Mount at least five feet, but no more than 25 feet from the glass to be protected. Window must be at least 12x24 inches. Do not mount the detector at more than a 60 degree angle from the center of any window to be detected. Avoid interior wood shutters and heavy draperies.

I suggest you talk to someone at Automated Outlet and let them help you select an appropriate GB unit.

Great !
Thanks for the replies.
Looks like I will keep the corner MDs and move the Glass breaks.
Will make a call for advice in the AM. Blow in insulators show up at 7 AM tomorrow

I just saw this thread and reading the specs about the requirements about the size of the window have me concerned. What about traditional sash windows that are broken into smaller individual panes of glass? Something like this.

The individual glass panes are not going to meet the minimum size requirement for that particular glass break. Are there glass breaks designed to work with the smaller glass panes that these windows have? I've never thought about glass pane size, but it makes sense that if the glass is too small, the glass break may not detect it.

Any thoughts?

Are you absolutely sure they are separate glass panes? Most of the time is is still one piece of glass with a decorative grille that makes it look like separate pieces.

That is probably the case for newer double pane windows. But I have old single pane windows where the glass is definitely small panes. That being said, I've looked at some of the other glass break documents and none have mentioned a minimum window size. So perhaps it isn't a bg deal.

PS - that picture is just some random picture from the internet that I used to clarify what type of window I was talking about. So that window may in fact be 1 big piece of glass with a decorative grille.
