Well he has wanted to do directing and editing for quite some time now. He finally was able to get into the video classes at another high school (he graduated from Edsel High and the classes were at Dearborn High) in the afternoon. They stuck him in the advanced class right off the start and he (in all modesty) blew the teacher away. I made a DVD of all his projects for the teacher the last week at his request as he wants it to show future classes and inspire the kids as to what you can do. He used a 4K digital camera from school and edited the projects using Video Vegas and is quite good at using it.
Only wish I had the server space to upload some of his other projects to show you guys.
He really wants to get into this field and will start by attended Henry Ford CC this fall in their multimedia program.
Its always fun when our kids succeed in this kind of thing. My own daughter has won a few prizes in mathematics competitions and as a dad, I can understand the proud feeling that you get from seeing your kid's hard work pay off.
Well my son entered a contest called the Axe Machinima Fan Film Fest. Its a movie making process called machinima which is basically done using a game's 3D engine or enviroment and then doing voice overs.
He won the early bird part of the contest with the prize being a $2500 Alienware PC.
Take a look... and remember it had to follow a date/game players theme.
