Danger in same CAT5e (or 22/4) for 12V & CCTV Video?

Any danger or concerns if I attempt to use the same CAT5e or 22/4 cable for 12V & CCTV? I've got two of these baluns for one of my outdoor cams which is probably an 80'-100' run from my CCTV server. I'd rather not run two cables since i'd just be wasting the unused wires, plus it would be more unsightly.

I've got an absolute crapload of CAT5e left, so i'd prefer that cable, but could do 22/4 too if need be.

In my opinion the only thing I would be concerned about is the amount of current draw your camera requires. I can't remember the maximum current allowed for a Cat5 wire off hand.

Well, this article shows 720mA as the max. I can't find my manual for the camera but it's a 24 IR LED, i think it was ~300 mA with the IR LED's on. That's some headroom, I could use 3 pairs for voltage, 1 pair for video. I suppose i'll have to rig it up to see if it looks okay only using 1 24g pair for video.

I would not recomend it with that camera which is probably 750ma-1 amp. However the non-IR bullets often can do it on short distances you guys find in your homes.

I always run Cat5e + 18-2 but I can understand the problem you are in.

Maybe consider relocating the IR cam where you have easier wiring and put a BW / 24 hour cam where it is now. If you want something let me know.

thanks for the help. I guess I will run two cables. this is an extra camera, I overbought by one so I figure I may as well use it somewhere...

It's a Vitek, dunno the specific model. Question is moot, I just ran 2 lines as the kids wanted to play in the side yard anyhow, and this was near them so I even got bonus points for kinda sorta watching them :-)
