Dead Bugs in my M1KP

Hi,

My keypad in my master bedroom has aquired a few new additions this summer. I have a few knats or bigger( I don't know what they are) dead on top of the display. Has anybody had this happen? And if so, how did you get them out? I guess it is going to be canned air, but before I start taking things apart, any sugestions?

Thanks,

Mike

A KP or KP2? I have had it happen in a KP2 but it may be similar. It's actually pretty easy - take out the board with the display. The display actually has the glass then an air space then the actual display. I just took it out and blew the bug out the old fashioned way, didn't have a can of air handy. Bugger came out very easily. Then just put board back in. Was an easy 4 screw operation iirc.

Be careful with compressed air. Not only can you blow things out from where you don't want them you can also blow things into places that you don't want them. I've also seen LCDs and LCD ribbon cables damaged by a blast of compressed air, I think due to the cold temp of the air as it comes out.
