By pure coincidence I learned about thingworx which aims at supporting distributed connected automation solutions. I wonder if there will be tools with which a semi professional user might knit his own home automation solution, using CAI webcontrol as devices... So no longer NEST and co would be able prescribing their business models to the humble users.
