Do you use an Ocelot in your HA setup?

I am actively monitoring the door, so the intelligent opening/closing using a toggle is pretty easy, I am just wondering if I need additional hardware or can I just wiretap the 2 wires going to the push button.

If the buttons work the same way the power/reset swithces do on a PC, than you can just wire tap 'em. That's how I have my power & reset switches wired for use with my watchdog.

I don't have a garage so I don't need/have a garage door opener. However, I have looked at some of the electronics-end of the hardware.

HomeDepot sells several Genie products that supposedly work with most openers. I'm thinking about things like keypads and RF remotes. These devices all seem to contain relays and they work by being wired in parallel with your current control electronics. You should be able to put any relay in parallel with the "button" that currently controls your garage door.

One problem I keep running into is creating x10 based 'events'. i.e. I want to execute something when i.e. A2 OFF has been received, but I can not select 2 and OFF at the same time. What am I doing wrong?

Hmm, I'm at work, so I can't hop into CMAX and see what the answer is, I know it's doable, becuase I've done it before... Post the same Question over at ADI and you'll probably get an answer before I get home. I've got a pdf Ocelot manual with me at work, maybe I'll give it a peek!

Look at page 35 of the Ocelot module. It looks like you have to use "IF X10 Status/Cmnd Pair"

ok figured it out, you are right, strange command description.

I also 'learnt' an IR command, but it doesn't seem to trigger every single time (i.e. tends to not recognize it with larger distances), is this typical?

Last but not least, it's not seeing any X10 traffic with the PSC05, so events won't trigger, the X10 monitor isn't showing any traffic either, is there anything else I have to do , or should it work out of the box?

For the IR recognition, try relearning it and try putting new batteries in the remote. I have 100% recognition from up to 30 feet away (which is as far as I can get from the Ocelot without making a hole in a wall). My Ocelot is mounted in my entertainment center behind some smoked glass, I don't know if this enhances or hinders IR recognition (Although it does make my IR543 work better, barely works at all when not behind the smoked glass, always works when it is).

For the PSC05, I have one and it works fine. Are you sure you're getting good X10 on the outlet it's plugged in to? If it doesn't work you may have gotten a bad one.... Also are you using the cord that came with the PSC05 to connect it to the Ocelot, I think it is wired differently than a regular phone line, so a regular phone line is not a suitable replacement. Is it able to send X10?

The Ocelot can send just one X-10 command and not the pair. This is handy if you want to turn a group of lights on or off at once. Look at the attached screen shot below and you will see when I receive a G, All Lights On, I can turn on an A housecode group of lights on at once, same for the C & D group (actually I'm dimming C13).

The command pair means both commands (the house code/unit code AND the house code/action) or this "pair" of commands is sent at once.

So for your A2 OFF command you want to receive, it will be: (say in this example you want to turn on a lamp which is C2 (do an X-10 Quick ON/OFF)

IF X-10 House A / Unit 2, ON Command Pair
THEN X-10 House C / Unit 2, Turn ON

Remember that you can go to system map and name those house codes something more understandable like Bedroom_Lamp.

As far as not seeing those X-10 signals, I agree with JR, will that PSC05's outlet work with anything else X-10 (I assume you can see the command via Homeseer's log so it isn't a problem with an X-10 palm pad remote or whatever is generating the Command.

BTW, how exactly are you generating the command, via a maxi/mini controller or Palm Pad (you know that would require Homeseer to be running also so the MR26A is working properly??

Dan,

Also check to make sure we sent you a PSC05 and not the PSC04. I think we sent the right one but double check it. The PSC04 is like the PSC05 except not 2-way.

hm, I do have the PCS05 plugged into the surge protector, eventho other X10 appliance modules work fine. I can't verify yet if it's a 04 or 05 till I get home, but I thought I read somewhere it was a psc05.

I did configure my mr26a to retransmit RF codes back onto the powerlines. I am going to create a new Ocelot thread as this is getting a little bit off topic , but considering all the Ocelot knowledge we have here, will post on this board about the Ocelot till you guys force me to go to ADI ;)

yep, all my modules are plugged into surge protectors, some of them are even plugged into surge protector which is plugged into another surge protector, has always worked lol. I got it to work now by moving it to a regular outlet, first time I ran into this problem.

Wow, we are honored to have Guy Lavoie browsing this thread (morning of April 9th)

Hope you become a regular Guy!!! Nice to see you here!! We all browse your support forum and are very impressed with the knowledge you lend to your Ocelot following!!
