Dynex TV Control Codes

Hello all,

I just bought a Dynex DX-LCD42HD-09 HDTV, and it has a USB port and a RS-232 port. The RS-232 is a weird audio socket-like connector, not the D-SUB I would expect to see.

Presumably, one of these inputs can be used to control the TV. Are there any resources for finding out how to control it? I have the computer part figured out using SerialBridge on my Mac, so all I need are the codes.

Thanks for any help you can give. I've never had a tv with serial or usb ports before, so I know nothing on the subject.

Here is a link for a thread on that TV on AVSforum. It's pretty long so I didn't read through it but it may have something for you.

I've found that a lot of times, those ports are "service ports" and used to upgrade firmware and service the set. Often they cannot be used for control. A long shot would be to find out what the IR control is and see if that carries over to the serial port. For example: If the universal remote IR settings for that TV are the same as an LG tv, then it could mean that Dynex used an LG logic board and the serial code would be the same as an LG too. It's a long shot, and even if true they could have used someone who dosen't make the port controllable or the codes available either, but it's worth a try...

Hope this helps,
Terry
