Elk 950 Wiring Question

So I'm wiring up an Elk 950 and I'm unsure about the orange and blue wires, 2 and 7.

The instructions say "2 & 7 are shorted together by jumper EOL creating a closed circuit tamper loop to supervise the modular plug. This loop may be converted to a resistored EOL circuit by cutting the jumper and attaching the required resistor in series with jumper."

The diagram says "Connect to 24hr Loop for Tamper".

I do see the yellow wire that is soldered to the EOL stamps on the board that is jumpering the circuit. However, what am I supposed to do with the wires coming out of the J1 plug? Am I supposed to tie these together or leave them as is? If not, where do I connect these two on the elk?

Thanks,
Peter

Those two wires would be connected to a zone on the ELK configured for a 24 Hr zone type.

This protects this cable from being cut and or unplugged without you knowing.

I see. This will only protect from the Jack to the Alarm panel, correct? This will not detect if the line is cut at the demark will it?

Correct, but you could do the same from the demark use a 4pr cable and put an EOLR across one pair in the demark and connect the other end to an elk zone, then you can monitor from the demark to the pannel for cuts

K, sounds good. Cat5e was run for telephone from the Demark to my house. There is at least 1 free pair on that cable so I will do exactly as you suggested with that pair.
