These are acceptable here, but I do not know if they meet code everywhere. There are several Carlon models on this page including a high voltage/low voltage "divider"...

The flush mount backbox is around 1 1/2 inches deep.

Spanky...thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the walls have long since been closed so there's really no chance to take out the blocking. Looks like I need to get the chisel out.

Try cutting the sheetrock and tehn using the sawzall if u can stay away from the wires.

If you do not feel comfortable with that try a keywhole saw. A chisal will take forever.

BE CAREFUL WITH EXISTING WIRING

You could use a forster bit to drill out most of the hole in the blocking, and then square off with a chisel.
