Elk Communicator Settings Question

I haven't heard of anybody complaining about intermittent emails. Yes, I have heard of issues getting it configured to work at all, but once it works, I thought it was rock solid.
Here are some threads:

This is why I'm concerned. I didn't include any threads from this forum.

Unfortunately those links do not go to specific threads.
Sorry, I copied the URL from the threads. I just looked for some of the M1EXP threads at the M1 Dealer site.

I am a regular reader of the Elk forum and I do not recall anybody with intermittent problems. I searched for the word intermittent and got one message that a person reported intermittent email, possibly due to a dns issue, which was solved by using the IP address.

Perhaps the word intermittent is incorrect. Just quits working inexplicably is probably more correct. These are some of the comments that led me to believe that something isn't right.

"I just upgraded the M1XEP Ethernet expander to new boot version 1.1.4 and application firmware version 1.2.2 . . . . NO E-MAILS are sent as before with previous versions."

"I configured outlook to work with mail server settings and it has been working fine. But when I try to use Elk to send messages nothing is being sent."

"I also can E-mail just fine using MS Outlook program. However, I have never been able to get the XEP to send a successful E-mail."

"I created a rule to test email yesterday and it worked fine, but today I recreated the same rule (for a demo) and I could not get the email;"

"I am convinced that the E-mail function of this product is flawed, despite reports of successful E-mails by others."

Don't get me wrong I think ELK products are the best on the market. I am using their panels and peripherals exclusively. The discussion centered around using NextAlarm for reliable email notification versus using the M1EXP.

There is only 1 message there that looks like something broke. All the rest are either mis configurations or something that happened with the upgrade that changed some of the functionality.

I hope so, because I'm going to pick your brain in a couple of months when I do my install :) .

Reading this thread as I'm setting up an NA free account to test.

Re: Elk XEP emails, I've been using them in two locations for over a year and found it to be rock solid. I get daily "sunrise/sunset" emails from both systems so I know they're up and, more importantly, the internet connection is still up.

Yes, I've also "squeeked" at Elk since day one on the static text and limit of 16 messages.

I've also setup a "Reset DSL" task at one location with a pair of appliance modules so I can call in on the phone and give DSL a kick in those cases when Nebraska goes "off the grid".

Let us know when you get the XEP and need help.
