Elk doesnt see input expander card after I swapped KP's

System Elk M1G with 2 input expanders and one KP keypad so far.

It has been rocognizing the two input expanders with no problems for a week or so.

I was doing some turning the system on and off while looking to add a prox card reader into the KP.

Now the system doesnt recogonize the third input expander card. In the RP software it says missing or not working. The expander itself has the led flashing one time showing it is working. The input zones have the correct voltage across them for the configuration they are wired in. I have a good Vcc at the 4 point pheonix connector at the expander and the data lines look good in there too.

I have the expanders on the 485 bus seperate from the KP. The expanders are hardwired direct to the 485 bus with the resistor jumper deal on the #3 card. The KP has the 485 bus brought to a M1DBH and the end of line resistor jumper deal is in the second port on the DBH.

In the RP software I cannot re enroll card #3 expander. I tried deleting it in the database as a last resort but that didnt allow me to enroll it either. Anyway I try to connect to this card it says missing or not working on the RP software and the led on the card flashing 1 time saying its all good.

Any ideas?

Not sure if I am reading your post correctly (been a long day). If you had 2 expanders and you are adding a third check that you do not have a duplicate address.

You will need to check the addresses of all three expander cards. In addition, you will need to ensure your RS-485 bus in properly terminated.
There are number of post related to RS-485 troubleshooting and using ohm-meter. Termination issues can sometimes be found without using a ohm meter by rotating the devices on the M1DBH RJ-45 jacks. You will need to turn system off before making any of these changes. What may happen is that a different device will fail to be found. If a device cannot be found, then it’s possible to remove the device using Elk-RP by re-scanning the bus.

My recommendation would be to ensure all connections are terminated on M1DBH and terminate on the M1G motherboard. Hybrid connections where both keypad and M1DBH are connected to RS-485 make troubleshooting extremely difficult. If you use the M1DBH, then none of your devices must have JP2 (termination cap) removed.

If you are getting a status blink, but the module will not enroll, check to make sure both data wires are connected. Make sure your keypads are not on the same address also.
