Elk Keypad Speakers - What can they do?

I plan to have a Elk Speaker/Siren (ELK-73) mounted in a hallway (outside the master bedroom). I will also be using the Elk keypad that has speakers (ELK-M1KP). What all are the keypad speakers used for? Do they do essentially the same thing as the ELK-73?

I would prefer not to add another internal speaker so if the keypads will suffice then I'm set.

Thanks.

Never mind. I just checked Elk's web site and found the FAQ page. It states the following:

"The ELK-M1KP has a built-in speaker but it is only used for the beep tones. All voice and siren sounds come from the alarm outputs 1 or 2 on the main board. It is possible to install supplimentary speakers (i.e. ELK SP12F, etc.) behind or nearby any keypad and wire these back to the alarm output(s). "

I suppose that I need to consider a 2nd internal speaker. I have an in-law suite in the basement and I would like a speaker in that area.

I personally love the keypad speakers - they put the sound right where you're interacting with the keypad.

However, in my new house, I'm having to supplement with additional speakers as well.

These provide all the voice feedback and sirens, etc... they're kind of essential.
