Elk M1 Gold Not Compatible with Uplink 2550?

Hi All,

I have a confused newbie question. I was on the phone the other day with AlarmRelay trying to set up my M1 Gold system with the Uplink 2550 communicator and they stated they two aren't compatible. I don't have a landline so the Uplink will be used as the primary cellular communicator. Am I missing something here or is the Uplink 2550 not compatible with the M1 Gold? I thought I read the 2550 was universally compatible (whatever that means.) I have the 2550 hooked up via the documentation and cables that came with the unit and the only connection issue is the line trouble light is on (I assumed it was because the 2550 wasn't activated or a landline wasn't present.) AlarmRelay instructed me to return the 2550 and get the 2500 along with the special cable require to connect it to the Elk.

I tried searching this sub-forum but didn't find much on the 2550. Any help is appreciated...newbie flaming is also welcomed.

Thanks!

Tell them to program the unit for RF only mode, not dialer intercept mode.

The "tech" that you were talking to doesn't know what they're talking about. They need to configure the unit other than the "default" values to match the installation.

The 2550 is universally compatible, however to change it from a telephone line triggered capture/backup, programming needs to be modified.

They recommend the 2500 because it's more of a "plug in" and direct unit for the M1 to communicate with.
