Elk M1 M!XEP Power

DOes anyone know if I can power the M1XEP directly from the AUX power outputs on the M1?  The specs say operating volts 12DC and 33mA.  Thanks!

I think you lost a zero on the current requirements. The M1XEP draws 330 mA.

You can power it from the VAUX outputs of the M1, as long as you don't have so many other devices also being powered by the M1 that you exceed the 1 Amp output limit of the M1.  That includes keypads, input and output expanders and any other devices that require power, such as motion detectors and smoke detectors.

Elk has a current draw spreadsheet that you can download to help you figure this out.  If you get much above 0.8A, then you should add an auxilary power supply, such as an Elk P412 or Altronix AL400ULX or AL400ULPD4 or PD8.

Thanks.  I am at .41 A with the keypads, expanders and wireless.  So this would put me at .74.  I do not need to add for speakers/siren, correct?  I will need to add once I add the smoke alarms.  The aux power is only rated for 1 amp from what I can tell.
