Elk M1 Temporary User Permissions

I want to temporarily enable a user code on certain days only and haven't been able to figure out how to set this up in rules.

I have an Elk M1 Gold panel and my wife and I each have our own codes. I also have a code for our cleaning people, but would like to enable that code only between certain hours on the days that I expect them to show up.

Is this possible?

Anyone have any experience with this? What does the rule look like?

If I understand you correctly, how about something like:

Whenever Sunrise
And the Day(s) of the week is/are -M-----
Then Enable Cleaners (User x)

You'll have to play with the timing based on your needs and add another disable rule at the end of the window.

There may be some M1 timing tricks that more experienced folks can comment on.

Excellent ... that doesn't seem so hard.

I actually tried another solution last night as well. I activated the user on an F4 button press, and then started a six hour counter. When the counter reached zero the rule deactivated the user again. Of course, this relies on me remembering that the cleaners are coming, but it might be a good backup for those days they show up on off-days.

I'm wondering if I can figure out a way to set the days of the week to every other week ... I'm assuming I'll have to use a counter.

I'll look at the Elk newsletter in more detail.

Thanks for the link and the suggestions.

Using day of week is fairly straight forward, and I think I've got that part figured out.

I kind of like to have the option of enabling the user through some manual input as well, but my function button option doesn't seem to be viable. The reason is that the keypad allows a user to press the function key during entry delay, which means that even if the user is disabled, they could enter, use the function key to enable themselves and then disarm the alarm. Granted, they would have to figure out that this is possible and which function key is the enabler, but even still ... it seems like a security hole.

Anyone have any thought about how to do this?

Whenever the time is 7:00 AM
AND the days(s) of the week is/are -M-W-F-
THEN Enable Joe Doe (User 1)

To set the days of the week, you will use an AND statement. The THEN part of the RULE can enable or disable a user.

You can also set a user code as a temporary code. When you arm your system with the temporary code, it is valid until you disarm the system with another code.

I set up a temporary user code by checking the Temporary Code check box (and the Arm, Disarm check boxes).
When I arm the system with this code (it will arm with the code) then I can't disarm the system with this code.  The keypad just gives me the low frequency error tone when I enter the code.

The keypad shows the little rotating user authenticated icon on the upper left but it will not disable the alarm.
The log shows the alarm armed by the guest user.
Also if I use M1 to Go to enter the temporary user code it disarms just fine.

Any ideas what is going on?
