Elk M1G and Z-Wave???

I am confused about whether the Elk M1G has a usable Z-Wave interface. From what I've read and seen on the forum, you can control Z-Wave devices with the M1XZW device but there is no feedback. What use is a control system if there is no feedback? Am I missing something?

If I also have CQC or MainLobby can they receive feedbacl from the Z-Wave controls and I would use them to control devices on my Elk? Would I need to still buy the M1XZW?

The M1XZW is one option.
The other is the still-in-beta connectivity through a Leviton RZC0P and a standard M1XSP with special firmware. That combo allows for 2-way communication.
