If you run another set of wires you could just use one set of expander contacts to connect 24 VAC to zone 1 valve and another set of contacts to connect 24VAC to the pump relay coil. Then close both when you want to run zone 1 from the automation controller.
For two wire operation, connect the first set of contacts as above. Then connect a relay with 24VAC coil in parallel with zone 1 valve. Connect the NO contacts between 24VAC and coil of pump relay (Connected to "master" valve output of sprinkler controller.) Whenever zone 1 is on the pump will run but not vice versa.
Or if you want to use relays with dc coils you would need two sets of contacts or two relays with single contacts, using one to trigger the zone valve and the other to trigger the pump relay. You would probably get the DC from your automation controller.
