ELK M1XEP Setup Email

It can be a PC, but this is usually done by your router, most modern routers have an "update client" built in. Check your router's configuration pages for a Dynamic DNS tab.. This can also be configured in the Elks M1XEP settings, but the Elk has to be able to find the external IP address and this may not be possible if it is NAT'd behind a router. You should only need to set it up in one place, the router is your best bet.

Your IP address (external address) is assigned by your Internet service provider. Your router then uses a local address for devices connected in the house. Many Internet service providers will offer static IP addresses. This usually comes at a cost. Check with your provider to see if they charge and what that charge may be.
