Elk Out2 delay for fire only?

In order to be in peace with the people cooking in the house and the neighbors, I'd like to allow them a 30sec window to ack and silence a fire alarm before the 110dB siren (out2) starts screaming. There is a "good neighbor" Out2 delay that's programmable, but it alsp applies to Burglar, which is clearly less desirable (especially since burglar is already delayable in a number of ways).

So is there a way to delay fire-only Out2 for a few seconds? I was looking at the "fire verified" zone type, but I don't think it'll help, right? (i.e. the panel won't notify the user until the fire is verified, and then it's the same issue).

Any advice?

Why is it more desireable to delay a fire alarm than a burglary? To me a fire alarm is critical, especially if the fire occurs at night with occupants in the house. 30 seconds is a long time and can mean the difference between life and death, or an escape route vs no way out. If God forbid I have a fire, I want to know immediately, as fast as possible.

If your concern is that somebody cooking will set off falses, then I would counter that your system is not setup optimally. You should have heat, not smoke detectors near cooking areas for starters.

I would much rather deal with an upset neighbor on a possible rare occasion of a false if it meant me knowing immediately in case of the real deal. Just my $.02

Steve,
I agree, but I am talking about Out2 delaying. Out1 would still gradually alarm (and inform the people inside right away, false or real alarm). It just wouldn't scream at the neighbors right away.
I'll look into the "heat" alarms.

I guess it depends on your setup. If your Out2 is strictly outdoors then I can understand your point better. But also imho, Out1 is not enough for fire. I like the piezo screamers on Out2 (or other output) indoors to engage immediately on fire. In case of fire, I want to be startled up immediately, its not like a morning gradual wake up alarm. I also use smokes with built in sounders.

Output 2 siren output on the M1 can not delay for different types of alarms. If output2 is delayed, then all alarm types are delayed.

But it is a good idea for the future!
