Elk + Vizia - When?

2.) The Vizia Beta firmware doesn’t do any polling on initial power-up or otherwise. That’s always been the question “Do we want to offer an option for polling?”

In a word: Yes. I'd love to move from the XZW, but the major reason for moving would be having reliable status support in the M1. Having initial and "maintenance" polling in addition to listening to ongoing status changes would be part of having reliable status.

If this will be a supported direction, I'll order up a RZC0P and another XSP tomorrow!

In conjunction with Mitch's and gcimmino's posts, i definately would want polling. But i'm only requesting it on start up only... Since it's two-way, i don't care if it polls periodically after that. And i'd prefer to get timed off without sacrificing that... (i know my cake and eat it too)

But frankly, i'll take a fix to the light bounce first and foremost and gladdly hook the thing back up over everything else  The light bounce simply makes it an unuseable combo - i shouldn't have been so quick to sell my m1xzw... (i know that's my own fault - esp when elk was clear tis was beta, so i'm not blaming anyone else for that)

Another vote here!

Ever since I fixed my wiring issue (see http://www.cocoontech.com/index.php?showtopic=9696), I started suffering from the bounce issue and I had to unsubscribe the RZC0P presto (one by one - thanks Leviton remote) from all lights and basically revert to one-way.

As mentioned by the other posters, I'd beg for a fix to the bounce issue, and I am absolutely for initial polling and possibly for maintenance polling. The Elk is 99% there and I don't want to have to switch to PC-based control if I can avoid it.

The Vizia Beta software for the M1XSP and the latest released M1 software should stop the Zwave bounce.

The "Opt" option in the lighting setup speeds up the transmissions. You can not use X10 with the "Opt" option set because X10 requires slow transmissions of the light commands.

Are you using any other lighting technology with a M1XSP?

Ok, i was running 3.2.2 / 5.0.12 where the "future" option did me no good... That's what you mean by OPT right?

I am upgrading to 3.3.2 and 5.1.4 right now and give it another go...

thx

p.s. nope on the other lighting usage (2 m1xsp's: the one for viziarf and one for hvac via HAI tstats)

Oops,
despite being traditionally an update freak, I somewhat missed the fact that I had updated everything but the M1G itself. So I did update to 5.1.4. Bounces _seem_ to be gone. VERY good thing.

I did notice that the "TURN ON FOR n SECS" rule still doesn't work. The light turns on, but never turns off. With separate rules for ON and OFF, things work fine. Actually, using an intermediate output as a control for the light allows for better control of what's going on with interaction between timed events vs. light/dark vs. triggers, although it takes 3 rules (the event>output rule, the out off > light off rule and the out on > light on rule).

When you guys refer to the BOUNCING, are you referring to the problem where after turning on or off a light by hand at the switch, the light could toggle states unexpectedly within a second or two?

Edit: I just read the docs and it does appear that is what you are all referring to. Wow, I don't know how I missed that firmware update, I wish I knew that a few months ago.

No kidding i feel like a dunce!!!! seems better nw for me too...

So i guess now we can all become squeaky wheels for the enhancements ;)

I'm sorry, I didn't see any new firmware. I checked the ELK download page...the last M1 update is from months ago.

Spanky -- Is there new BETA software for Vizia?

Spanky has been distributing beta M1XSP firmware (not M1G firmware) for ViziaRF for use with a M1XSP+RZC0P combo, but it's not generally available (you have to ask him directly). I haven't heard of a new release since I got mine (numbered 20.0.1).

BTW Johnnynine, your website mentions that only a not-yet-released version of RP can import the XML data from LumenLink. That's actually not correct. The current 1.6.24 does and, according to Spanky, 1.6.22 did too. (and thanks for LumenLink, it's great!).

My M1 is v4.4.12
My ElkXSP (Vizia) is 20.0.1

I definitely have light bouncing... so I'm not sure how it got fixed, or what version. But I'd like it to be fixed!

Can you point me to documentation on it or a screenshot or something so I can update the web site?

Thanks,
Johnny
