ELK WSV (Water Shutoff Valve) Wiring Clarification

I have my WSV installed, nice piece of equipment. I have an external power supply for it that will also power some GRI water sensors....my question is can +12v be continuously supplied to the valve? Or should it be a momentary for each fuction....

IE:

Apply +12v to white or red wire for 5 seconds, then kill voltage OR

Wherever +12v is seen (white or red wire) the valve will either open or close (and it has its own logic/relays inside to stop motor once action is completed) ---> pretty sure this one is right since you would need constant power to the valve for the green wire to work properly. So do i have this right, the valve ALWAYS sees +12v and does its own internal switching to actuate the motor for however long it needs to?

Judging by the instruction sheet it looks like you can power it constantly. It probably has a cutoff internally when the end limit is reached. There are no provisions shown in the diagram to cut power. It's being powered from the aux supply.
