this is a little late as the sale started sunday. it was sold out online within hours, but there appears to be a decent supply in stores. my wife got one this morning at a not so nearby walmart where they had 2 more. acer makes emachines now so the quality should be much better than it was years ago. this laptop looks identical to acer labeled ones.

I bought one of these when they went on sale last Sunday (2AM trips are fun!). These are great machines, very fast, a CPU like this would normally add another $100 or so to this price. My wife's 1 year old Acer has an identical chassis (just a way slower CPU), and it has been doing well. I almost bought a netbook that day, glad I didn't!

apparently this is not just a weekly sale. it's $298 as long as it's in stock. for those in the silicon valley area, the gilroy store has 4 in stock right now.

Yep, people are still buying them, but they are becoming harder to find. I just put Windows 7 Pro on it this weekend, and it runs even faster now. No extra drivers were needed, eventho you can download them from the eMachines website. Very HOT deal for sure.
