EZIO8T, Garage Door Control and ELK M1G

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used the Simplehomenet EZIO8T with a garage door sensor and monitored it with the ELK M1G? My understanding is that an AC transformer is required for this setup...correct?

I'd love to hear how you did it...or if you have a recommended setup that would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris

Welcome to CocoonTech Chris. Don't know about the EZ, but the EZiest and best method is to just wire the GD contact direct to an Elk zone. Its the cheapest and most reliable but of course assumes you can get a wire to there. Then hookup a wire from Elk Output to GDO contacts. Track open/closed with contact on door and open/close it by turning on output for 2 or 3 seconds. There are several threads about this if you search on 'garage' and 'elk'.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply - you're right that would be a more efficient setup. However the garage is detached (approx 12ft away from the house) with no easy access for direct wiring...

Maybe use wireless sensors (GE?) for door monitor...
