My elkin m1 system has been great for 3 years.
At 230 this am got a failure to comm message.
Everything seems to work fine.
Can't find anything wrong.
My installer is out of business.
Any thoughts?

possibly failure to communicate with the central office? which could be a temporary telephone problem

Go to menu 8,6,4, Last On Hook Telephone voltage and see if the phone voltage is about 40 to 60 volts.

Go to menu 8,4,3, "Turn Butt Set Mode On". Call the central station to set up a test call. Activate the the M1's dialer and you will be able to hear the communication to the central station on the Output 1 speaker. If your dialer Led's come on but you do not hear anything, either the phone line is disconnected or there is a problem in the telephone interface circuit.

If you are in a lightning area, you may want to add a lightning suppressor to the telephone line.

Many thanks.
Will see if I can figure this out.
