I thought it was something other than a rule to break power like I've done before, but then again, I didn't know about the XEP's watchdog and self resetting.
DEL - depending on the size of the install, you may consider one of these Web Power Switches - they have a scripting language, watchdog, and IP connectivity - you can run scripts on the device that will ping devices (including your IP gateway) - and if something doesn't respond, power gets cycled.
I use them in some of my installs along with a router that has VPN capabilities - so I can VPN in if there's a problem; and if there's a problem with the VPN device, the internal watchdog will detect it and reset the router for me. Saved me a few 70-mile roundtrips in the last couple weeks.
