Flood Light Reccomendations

Thanks for the great ideas.

I was looking at some dedicated LED units.  However, a regular unit and adding LED bulbs is something I hadn't given much thought.

I was looking at something like this from Lowes.  It is not recommended to be mounted on an eave however.

I have heard great things about RAB.  I know you usually get what you pay for.  But a RAB light with LEDs I think is around $140 + $70 Optex motion sensor + RIB1UC and it is starting to add up to a lot when I will need 4 or 5 of these setups.

I might be able to hack the RAB motion detector to feed the Elk, but these days I am trying to keep it somewhat simple. (Others would clearly disagree with my definition of simple however.)

Well, RAB has the sensors available separately that you might be able to use instead of the Optex but that depends on your security system.  Then again, the sensors aren't too much cheaper than the Optex depending on which one you look at.

And here are the LED bulbs I bought 6 years ago when I installed the RAB motion sensor lights.  I don't remember needing to replace any of them and I haven't bought any others via Amazon.

So if you use a separate sensor and LED bulbs, you can go with a cheaper light mount though I have to say the RAB lights are impressively built out of metal and still looks like new under my eave corners.  Not having to mess with the lights in a few years or replace them in 7-8 years if needing to sell means it might be worth it to spend now...assumes you get what you pay for in the light mounts holding up.
