Hey to all, Happy New Year. I am looking for front speakers that can be mounted to an LCD TV. (Sony Bravia 45"). It is a difficult app. but there is no room to mount behind the TV. I am looking for med. to high quality speakers, left, rt & center channels. Thanks for the help.

I am going to use the Definitive Technology SSA50 which was made for situations like this. A bit pricy but it is line with several other high end bar speakers that are intended to offer a sense of surround sound. I have not installed mine yet so I cannot vouch for the overall quality but it has received very good reviews. Google SS50 and you can find a number of reviews. I am aslo adding a woofer to give me 5.1 for my "Home Theater" (aka...family room).

Before all the audio enthusiast out there start screaming that the SSA50 is not a true surround sound system, please consider that everyone does not have the ability (space) or desire for a high dollar home theater speaker setup.

I am going to be ordering three Russound LCR7 speakers (http://www.russound.com/complement.htm) around the LCD for center/left/right. I have limited space as well due to bookcases being on either side of the TV. Not many reviews available on this though.

I've spoken to some higher end AV specialists (they guys that install the 100k home theather rooms) and they said that the sound bar works ok if your room is nice and square since it needs the walls to bounce the sound of to similute the 5.1/7.1 experience. In my case the TV is going to be diagonal in the room and their opinion was that the sound bar would not work very well because of this.

I noticed that CDC is asking for speaker that can actually mount to the TV whilst what is being suggested is wall mounts. I am also curious to know what speakers you can mount on the side of a Sony Bravia......what would you do with the center channel though?

If you have an AV receiver with sound calibration, the diagonal orientation of the set may not be as much of a problem, with a 'sound bar' surround-sound device.

If you have built-in cabinets next to the set, have you considered shelf speakers? Or making some changes to the built-ins?

Look at some TV mount manufacturers websites. I bet you can get a mount that also holds some speakers nicely. Try Sanus and Chief mounts.

Edit - the product you're looking for is a 'speaker adapter' that holds speakers with the monitor. Chief has them on their site, but someone else makes them (I think). I think they can hold a tremendous variety of speakers, with the monitor in the middle. You're not limited to a 'sound bar'.

Edit #2 - My Denon 3808 AV receiver comes with a sound calibration system called Audyssey. Audyssey has a list of AVR's on their website that include Audyssey calibration - the cheapest looks to be ~$300, or cheaper if you find a used one. It helps with music distortion caused by room layout.

For some sound bars such as Yahama and others that is true but the SSA50 does not employ that bounce approach. It creates the surround effect by varring the sound on each speaker to fool your ears into thinking it is hearing suround sound. I cannot explain how they do it other than a lot of electronics but the reviews gave it high marks for sound quality.

Thanks to all for the input. I have been looking alot for a solution. The wall mount for this TV Is an Omni Mount CLL, w/ a UAB Adapter. We can use Omni's EAR-B speaker bracket to mount the sound bar to. I am almost decided on an Atlantic Technology FS4000 speaker bar. Good specs and reviews. Does anyone have any knowledge of, or experience with the Atlantic Technology speakers?
