Giving Up On Insteon

As far as clunky switches go, I think you are referring to one or two existing product lines. Check these out (which I have heard referred to with words as "georgeous" or "good looking"):

http://www.cooperwiringdevices.com/AspireRF/
http://www.intouchcontrols.com/productline.htm
http://www.leviton.com/vizia/
However, not one of those has a Keypad that looks anywhere near as good as an Insteon KPL with etched buttons.

They may get them someday, but for now Insteon has the nicest one.

You don't like the Cooper keypad? I like the Intermatic and Leviton ones for their simplicity and/or designer looks--but the Cooper one always seems to be a favorite for designer+simple.

EDIT: you don't have to like any of the keypads of course, including the designer ones. Individual choice and opinions are one of the nicest things about living in a mostly-free world. I do agree that etching is very nice--that was a great idea on SmartHome's part.

Another reason you might want to wait on Insteon is I ordered an item over a month ago and I got this email today.......

Items you ordered
Qty Description Est Ship Date Unit Price
1 2856S3B ICON Appliance Module Pending Feedback from manufacturer. 16.99

Pending Feedback from mfg????? Its been over a month and they dont know when they will have product. Two weeks ago the email said it would ship 6/23. Sounds like they have a big problem and are redesigning etc. etc. etc.

Maybe since both the ApplianceLinc V2 and the Icon version have many of the same parts. They maybe finally [I have complained for at least 3 months now] that some loads drive them crazy and some blow them out. I have three; one smoked when the parts that fail overheated. I believe the ApplianceLinc V2s are also back ordered. :D

The new Insteon In-LineLinc Relays finally shipped yesterday. I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and they said they would probably ship in late June. They made it by about 12 hours :D

Don't quibble. The fact that they are starting to meet deadlines is a positive sign no matter how close to the wire!
