Oh I assumed an ir receiver could be placed on the sensor port, but upon further investigation it looks like only gc sensor cords can be used on those ports. Well that leads to another question: What is the cheapest way to get an ir receiver to trigger my automation system? The location I need it for does not have a dedicated pc nearby to run a usb-uirt. I do have hardwired internet at the location. Thanks for the ideas.
Global cache said you can also connect an IRE to an iTach/GC-100 through the serial port and then connect their ir receiver cable to the IRE. Then input the serial output into the automation system. I was looking into PI for XBMC, but know nothing about it. Could I run the above mentioned LIRC and XBMC on a single Pi? Thanks!
