hai's website says HAI recommends either 6 ohm or 8 ohm speakers with Hi-Fi 2, though it pushes more for 8 ohm speakers. It states it has an onboard power supply which is enough to drive 8 zones at 8ohms but doesn't specify how many watts / amps is the max draw on it. Considering it's meant to be mounted in a can, and isn't the biggest amp out there, i'd say you're probably going to need an external amp to push 4ohms reliably on it.
