HAI OPII general problems (keypad)

Hello all,
 
I have an existing customer that had some problems with their OPII controller... we replaced the controller and 3 days later the system went crazy... (sending signals, keypads would not allow entry of codes before going blank, random errors... controller board also started clicking every 5 seconds... has anyone else had similar issues? system has not been damaged by lightning or a surge as best I can tell...

I am guessing you checked all cabling from the panel to devices end to end.  2 wire zones, 4 wire zones, outputs, serial keypads, serial Omnitouch. 

Relating to serial keypads and or serial Omnitouch 5.7's I would disconnect all of them at the panel and test each one with a short cable directly to the panel at the panel.

It is time consuming (PITA) to do this depending on number of connections to the panel. Easiest way is to utilize a VOM for every wire leaving the panel.


 
Guessing too you checked the battery and power supply to the panel.

Check your automation program to see if you have a circling command. Did the problem start after a program change?

Yes, forever looping (Dead loop) should make controller seem not working. try to connect and erase flash by new empty account

details:
standard keypads on a new panel (programming was originally done by another contractor and backed up by me)
New power supply
Cant even get into the panel with a serial connection 
Will be on site tomorrow with a new panel, keypads and expansion enclosure... I'm gonna wipe the programming and start from scratch to eliminate errors by other folks

Thanks all for the replies.... panel must have had a programming loop or something similar done by others... we could not get in and had to replace the main board... programmed from scratch and now its working great...

The loop program easy make by programmer.  Controller processing forever looping but still respond other command very slow of course. Next time. You just try to connect to controller then write to controller by choose program. when Pc access done erase flash memory, you have to terminate controller connection immediately. Now controller look like new one and you can find the loop command in your programming automation.

We were locked out of programming altogether... from keypad, serial connection and network... but i can try
