HAI Snap-Link iPhone App NOW AVAILABLE

There are only a few reviews in the app store on it so far, but a couple of them don't sound good!

Hey guys,

Yes, Apple approved late Friday, and immediately put it in the app store. You'll be seeing the official press release and such tomorrow. A couple of people have had problems connecting because of port forwarding issues, etc. Anyone that has a problem, I'm checking this forum and our HAI forum for anyone that has problems now, since tech support isn't open until tomorrow AM. Sorry for the inconvenience.

P.S. You do need to have UDP and TCP port fowarded in your router, and at least 3.0 or greater firmware in your ethernet enabled controller. (3.4 recommended)

Are there any additional screenshots available? The ones in the app store don't really show room/scene control well (only shows an individual light). I would also be interested in seeing screen shots of the music, access control and IP video screens.

For a $50 app, you might want to consider putting a demo version out for download. Possibly allow it to connect to a system, download the config and let the user see the full interface and limit control to one or two lights. For $50, I'm not about to take a chane on the app without getting a better feel for how it will work.

Why does the app need both UDP and TCP?

Hey JonW,

Tomorrow I can get some additional screenshots. There is a limit of 1 primary and 4 secondary on the app store... we just couldn't fit them all in. We'll take the demo app suggestion under advisement, I can understand your point... if it helps, you can go to our Youtube channel and see a demo of it working. It's a video of a beta copy, but I think it will give you a good feel of the app.

The app actual only uses TCP, I always suggest opening both UDP and TCP to support already existing products, and 3rd parties. (Snaplink, etc)

I had no problems getting it up and running. It was a quick and painless install. So far I've been happy with it.

Got mine set up no problem. Using dynamic DNS as that I have a dynamic IP. I do have a WHS so it makes this part pretty easy though.

This is a landmark product for HAI in my opinion.

Now if HAI would just acquire Casatunes and integrate those guys into SnapLink mobile :-)

I'm glad you guys got it working... if you like it don't forget to leave it a good review on the app store ;-)

I'm not sure about Casatunes...but we do have the music gateway coming out....

Aaron - thanks for the update!

i have a few questions:

1.) the screenshots show that you can edit/hide light controls. is it possible to hide things on the main screen that you don't have, such as access control?
2.) in "control", the lights are shown to be grouped by room. i currently have a lutron homeworks setup via rs232 to the omni pro 2 and was wondering how this can be achieved to group lights per room such as kitchen (which contains 5 different lights)
3.) when you access "control" or "audio", it shows the status of the unit, but can this be turned on and off directly, or must you click the audio zone/light, go to the next screen and then click on or off?

thanks so much.

Anthony,

1.) Cameras, Access Control, User Settings won't show up if you don't have any defined.

2.) This is actually a function of the controller, when we did HLC lighting, we created the "room" concept in the controller. Then when we implemented Vizia, we did it the same way. When we wrote the driver for lutron, I think it didn't fit into that concept, so it doesn't have the "room" capability. I'll add this into the suggestion box though.

3.) Right now, the icon is just for status, you need to select the device, then on the next page, you can control it. We looked into changing states when the icon was pressed, but some devices have multiple states, and it just wasn't intuitive. I found that adding another button to the list made it way to cluttery, and then you couldn't see the entire device name unless you made the text incredible small. This takes an extra step, but it's consistent, still easy to use, and fit into the "apple" way of doing things.

Aaron,

I just installed 2 RC1000's last night into my OPII setup. I can view the thermostats from the panels with no problem and adjust them accordingly, but nothing shows up on my iphone in snaplink. I'm sure its just a configuration issue. I'm not sure if it's a configuration issue on the thermostat itself or on the OPII. I have PC Access if that makes figuring it out any easier. Could you help me out?

Did you name it in the controller via PCAccess or console? They need to be named.

Did you go into the Account Settings and "Retrieve Setup" again? The iPhone doesn't know that something has changed in the system, so you need to let it re-download the system configuration.
