HDMI, USB2, and Firewire400 over Cat5E/6

Hello all,

Getting ready to move into the new place! I'll be building in a huge 19" equipment rack to house all of my gear (I already have about 50U of equipment). I am planning on finally getting all of this equipment out of my office (which is very noisy with all of the fans) and into a dedicated room. My primary workstation is in a 3U chasis, and is extremely noisy to the point it gives me headaches. I would love to be able to put this into the equipment room and just run extensions to my office to be able to control it. The run will be about 90ft, but let's say 120ft because we all know cable runs are always longer than we think. I will be running Cat6 STP for these connections.

I've been searching the web for high-quality, yet not extremely expensive solutions to this issue. A traditional Cat5 KVM seems to be out due to lack of HDMI and Firewire. A lot of the USB repeaters I have seen only support USB1.1.

Firewire is important because I have two very expensive professional sound cards (MOTU 896HD for those interested). I am thinking though it might be better to run ballanced audio interconnects to the office for them rather than move the sound cards into the office -- I know ballanced audio cables won't have any issue at that cable length.. For USB, right now I just connect my digital camera, colorimeter, keyboard and mouse, but would like to keep options open for other devices such as hard drives or a DVD burner so I won't have to run upstairs and across the house to the equipment room. HDMI simply because my monitor supports it - I might also run an additional cat-5 line so I can do VGA to connect a secondary video feed -- if I can find one cheap enough.

Here is what I've found, albeit a bit expensive. Any experience or suggestions are greatly appriciated:

VGA: ?

Thanks!
Kent
