Heat/Flame resistant contact sensor

Does such a thing exist?

I have my NG fireplace automated to turn on and off via contact closure relay and it works flawlessly however the fireplace has a flue with a manual lever at the top of the firebox and if the fireplace is turned on while that flue is shut then its trouble.

His do I monitor the status of the flue door without melting a sensor? Does anyone know of a sensor for this application?

I have an ELK panel and Zwave control via Vera.

Thanks in advance.

Plenty of industrial switches could be adapted, best I could say is look at a place like Grainger.

You could also move the switch out of the thermal location and use linkages to trigger it.

Thanks for the suggestion. What are Linkages? Sorry I'm not familiar, but are you suggesting a looped wire that will simply connect / close the circuit, exposing only the wire to the heat?

Without knowing where the switch would need to be mounted and what would physically trigger it, A physical pushrod or similar to a leaf microswich mounted remotely, what have you....You are probably going to be past the ambient of most wiring without getting pretty expensive.
